About

Rainy Day Campground sits at 5,790 feet elevation on a forested ridgetop in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests of central Idaho. The campsites are dispersed through open timber, with some spots screened from the road by trees. The setting provides access to OHV road riding opportunities in the surrounding forest. This is a primitive, no-fee campground with basic amenities including a vault toilet and metal fire rings. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Trash services are not provided; pack it in, pack it out. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. Access requires traveling approximately 16.2 miles south on Santiam-Sourdough Road (Forest Road 492) from its junction with State Highway 14. The road is rough and narrow in places, limiting suitability for larger vehicles or trailers.

Directions

From State Highway 14, turn south onto Santiam-Sourdough Road (Forest Road 492). Follow Road 492 approximately 16.2 miles to the campground. Road access is rough and narrow in places.
