Five Mile Campground is a primitive campground located in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests along the scenic Crooked River corridor. Set in open, tall timber at 4,480 feet elevation, this family-friendly campground is particularly popular for its proximity to Five Mile Pond, which offers fishing and swimming opportunities. A creek flows through the campground area, adding to the natural ambiance. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system and no fees. Each campsite includes a fire ring and is situated among mature timber. Basic vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water available, so visitors must treat or filter water from nearby sources. Garbage services are not provided; campers must pack out all trash. Access is via Crooked River Road #233 off State Highway 14, approximately 10.5 miles south. While the campground is open year-round, winter access may be limited or impossible due to snow accumulation on the forest road. The area is ideal for families seeking a quiet, primitive camping experience with fishing and creek access.
