About

Crooked River Campground #4 is a primitive, no-fee campground located in the Highway 14 Corridor of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests in Idaho County. Situated at 3,960 feet elevation, the campground offers four camping pads that are screened by trees for privacy, making it suitable for larger visitor parties seeking a secluded wilderness experience. The campground features a small on-site pond ideal for fishing and swimming, with easy access to Crooked River nearby. Anglers can pursue trout in the river, and gold panning opportunities exist in the area. The location also serves as a solid base camp for big game hunting during season. This is a true primitive camping experience with no developed amenities. Campers must bring their own drinking water and pack out all trash. The campground is technically open year-round but may be inaccessible during winter months due to snow on the access road.
