Located approximately one hour west of Lolo, Montana, at mile post 158.5 on US Highway 12, Whitehouse Campground offers a peaceful riverside camping experience along the Lochsa Wild and Scenic River. The campground's location on the famous Northwest Passage Scenic Byway and All American Road makes it an ideal base camp for exploring the Lewis and Clark Trail corridor and surrounding wilderness areas. The campground features 11-13 individual sites situated in a forested riverside setting. Its proximity to the Lochsa River provides excellent opportunities for fishing, nature viewing, and enjoying the scenic beauty of this wild and scenic river corridor. The area is popular with hikers and backpackers accessing nearby trails, and makes a convenient stopping point for travelers touring Highway 12. RVs up to 30 feet can be accommodated, though the campground offers no hookups. Water is available via hand pump, and vault toilets serve the facility. The campground's remote location along one of Idaho's most scenic byways offers a true mountain forest camping experience in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests.
Directions
From Lolo, Montana, drive west on Highway 12 for approximately 49 miles to the campground at mile post 158.5. The campground is on the river side of the highway, directly across from the Lochsa River.
