Fish Lake Camp is located in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests in north-central Idaho, part of a vast 4 million-acre forest system known for its diverse landscapes and abundant recreational opportunities. The forests range from the dry, rugged canyons of the Salmon River to moist cedar forests of the Selway drainage to rolling uplands of the Palouse region. The area offers a variety of outdoor activities including camping, fishing in numerous lakes and streams, hiking, hunting, and wildlife viewing. The forests are managed to provide pristine water quality, breathtaking scenery, and wilderness experiences while supporting multiple uses including timber harvest, livestock grazing, and mining. Visitors to the region can enjoy fishing for trout in mountain lakes and streams, exploring miles of trails through diverse terrain, and experiencing the remote beauty of north-central Idaho's backcountry. The forests are home to diverse wildlife and provide access to both developed recreation sites and primitive camping opportunities.

Directions

Fish Lake Camp is west of Missoula, Montana, off I-90. Take the Tarkio exit 61 and head south and east for about 3/4 mile to reach the area. Look for signs marking the entrance to the camping and fishing access site.
