About

White Rock Mountain Family Campground is a historic recreation area located at 2,309 feet above sea level in the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest. The campground offers nine primitive campsites ranging from standard sites accommodating small RVs and pop-up campers to tent-only sites and one group site. Each site features tent pads, fire rings, BBQ grills, picnic tables, and lantern poles, with accessible drinking water and vault toilets located within close proximity. The recreation area received its name from the lichen-covered sheer bluffs that appear white from a distance. The campground provides spectacular views of the Ozark Mountains and serves as the hub for several trail systems, including the easy 2-mile White Rock Rim Trail, the 17-mile Shores Lake/White Rock loop trail, and the renowned 170-mile Ozark Highlands Trail. The surrounding forest is home to diverse wildlife including deer, bear, bald eagles, and turkey. An onsite general store offers information, souvenirs, snacks, pizza, beverages, firewood, and backcountry supplies. The area is particularly stunning during fall when bright autumn foliage sweeps across the forest.

From Interstate 40 at Mulberry, Arkansas, take exit 24, turn north onto Arkansas 215 and continue for approximately 12.3 miles. Turn left onto Forest Service Road 1505 toward Shores Lake/White Rock and follow for approx. 5.3 miles. Turn left onto Forest Service Road 1505 and follow for approx. 2.2 miles. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 1505 and follow for 0.5 miles. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 1535 and continue for approximately 0.5 miles to White Rock Mountain. Road detour currently in effect from I-40 north.
