Open — Open year-round for camping. Restrooms with showers are open March through November. The visitor center is open daily 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

Lake Fort Smith State Park Campground is a well-maintained camping destination nestled in a scenic valley of the Boston Mountain Range in northwest Arkansas. The campground features 30 sites divided into two classes: 20 Class AAA sites with full hookups (water, sewer, and 50-amp electric) and 10 Class B sites with water and 30-amp electric hookups. The park sits on the western shore of 1,490-acre Lake Fort Smith and serves as the western terminus of the 240-mile Ozark Highlands Trail, making it popular with both RV campers and backpackers. Amenities include a marina with boat rentals, a seasonal swimming pool, dump station, restrooms with showers, and a visitor center with exhibits on the area's pioneer history. The park offers year-round interpretive programs including nature hikes and lake tours. Recreational opportunities include fishing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and mountain biking on multiple trails including the Boston Mountain Trail and Sheperd Spring Trail. Swimming, water skiing, and jet skiing are not permitted on the lake. The park also features cabins, group lodges, and picnic facilities. Pets are allowed in the campground but not inside buildings or in the lake.

Located 26 miles north of Alma, Arkansas and 32 miles south of Fayetteville on scenic Highway 71. The park entrance is at 15458 Sheperd Springs Road, Mountainburg, AR 72946.
