About

Horsehead Lake Recreation Area is a developed campground in the Ozark-St. Francis National Forests near Clarksville, Arkansas. The recreation area is jointly managed by the US Forest Service and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and sits on a scenic 16-acre lake with a no-wake policy designed for peaceful fishing and small-motor boating. The campground offers first-come, first-served tent and RV sites at $15 per night. Facilities include flush toilets, a bathhouse with showers, a playground, and picnic areas. Most facilities are ADA accessible. Drinking water is available from a hand pump. Swimming is permitted at your own risk, and the lake supports fishing opportunities. Across the lake, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission offers primitive camping and a boat launch. The area provides opportunities for wildlife viewing, plant viewing, and enjoying the natural scenery of the Ozark Mountains. Day use is available for $3 per vehicle.
