About

White River Campground is a small, rustic dispersed-style campground located about 40 miles west of Ely, Nevada, in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The campground features five primitive camping sites, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Situated along the White River in a remote setting near the Red Mountain Wilderness, this campground appeals to visitors seeking a quiet, undeveloped camping experience. Recreation opportunities include river and stream fishing in the White River, particularly popular during spawning season, as well as off-highway vehicle riding on nearby forest roads and trails. The campground is accessed via Forest Road 405, a firm-packed gravel road suitable for most vehicles, though the campground itself may not accommodate larger trailers and motorhomes. Dispersed camping is also available along the access road. Facilities are minimal, with vault toilets provided but no potable water available. Campers must bring all necessary water and supplies. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on leash. The campground operates seasonally from late May through mid-October, weather and conditions permitting, and is free of charge.

Directions
