About
Cave Lake State Park Group Use Areas offer dedicated group camping five miles southeast of Ely in eastern Nevada. Situated at 7,300 feet in the Schell Creek Range adjacent to Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, the park provides group sites within two distinct campgrounds. Elk Flat Campground operates seasonally from early May through mid-October, while Lake View Campground near the 32-acre reservoir remains open year-round. Both group areas feature level sites with fire pits and grills, picnic tables, and parking. Flush toilets and showers serve both campgrounds, though Lake View facilities may close during extreme cold. An RV dump station is available near the campground entrances, and drinking water is provided on-site. ADA-accessible campsites are available. The park offers diverse recreation including fishing for stocked rainbow trout, non-motorized boating, swimming, and four maintained hiking trails. Mountain biking is permitted on designated routes. Winter transforms the area into a snow recreation destination with ice fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling on approved roads. Reservations for group camping are accepted starting January 2nd each year through Reserve Nevada.
