Ellison Guard Station is a historic Forest Service facility within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, situated in the remote White Pine Range of eastern Nevada. Located in White Pine County approximately 70 miles west of Ely, the guard station sits at an elevation of around 6,800 feet and has historically served as an administrative outpost for the Forest Service. The station is positioned along County Road 10, also known as Ellison Creek Guard Station Road, which provides access to the eastern slopes of the White Pine Range. This area serves as a gateway to both the Bald Mountain Wilderness and White Pine Range Wilderness areas, offering visitors a starting point for exploring these rugged and remote wilderness landscapes. Access to the guard station requires traveling west on Highway 6 from Ely for approximately 25 miles, then turning north onto County Road 10. The surrounding area features high desert terrain transitioning to montane forests, with the White Pine Range rising dramatically to the west. The region is characterized by its isolation and pristine wilderness character, making it ideal for those seeking backcountry experiences away from developed areas.
