At 239 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 13 miles south of Ruby Lake, moving northeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Heavy rainfall along with gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Big Bald Mountain and Overland Pass.

Berry Creek Guard Station is situated in the remote Schell Creek Range of eastern Nevada, within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The area is managed by the Ely Ranger District and sits at high elevation surrounded by alpine terrain. The guard station is referenced in USFS materials as a landmark and trailhead access point for the Ranger Trail, which provides entry into the High Schells Wilderness. The surrounding area offers opportunities for hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, fishing, and cross-country skiing. Despite being listed in some databases as a rental facility, this guard station does not appear in current official USFS cabin rental listings or on Recreation.gov. The Ely Ranger District's recreation page lists only campgrounds, not cabin or guard station rentals. Directions

From Ely, take US-93 north through McGill. Continue north on US-93 approximately 5 miles to the Duck Creek Basin turnoff. Proceed east on Duck Creek Basin road, then turn left onto Berry Creek Road (NF-424/568).
