Cave Lake State Park Lake View Campground

Lake View Campground sits adjacent to Cave Lake, a 32-acre stocked trout reservoir at approximately 7,300 feet elevation in the Schell Creek Range near Ely. The campground operates year-round, though only the lower loop is currently open. Each site is level with a fire pit, grill, picnic table, and parking space. Access roads within the campground are unpaved but maintained. The campground features flush toilets and hot showers, a notable upgrade from typical primitive camping. A sanitary dump station is located near the campground entrance, though it may close seasonally in winter. No electric, water, or sewer hookups are available at individual sites. In extremely cold conditions, facilities may be temporarily closed, so winter campers should contact the park before arriving. Cave Lake provides excellent year-round fishing for rainbow and brown trout, with ice fishing popular during winter months. Boating is permitted with a combined camping and boat launch fee available. Hiking trails include the Overlook Trail offering panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The park enforces a seven-day camping limit within any 30-day period.

Directions

From Ely, Nevada, travel south on US-93 for approximately 7 miles. Turn right onto Success Summit Road (also signed for Cave Lake State Park). Continue approximately 7 miles to the park entrance. Lake View Campground is located past the fee station near the lake.
