Whiskey Creek Group Picnic Area is a waterside day-use facility on Whiskeytown Lake's northern shore, popular for group gatherings and celebrations. The area contains three reservable group sites: Site 1 accommodates 20-80 people (50 seated), while Sites 2 and 3 each accommodate 20-40 people (30 seated). Each site is equipped with large serving tables, numerous picnic tables, and a charcoal barbecue grill. Access is via boat-in or walk-in only. The Whiskey Creek Launch Ramp is located 1.6 miles away, and boats may be moored along the picnic area's shore. Swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing are popular activities in the protected cove during summer months. This is strictly a day-use facility with no overnight camping permitted. Hours are 9am to 9pm for reservation holders. Open or ground fires, alcohol, smoking, pets, and personal watercraft are all prohibited. An entrance pass to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is required in addition to the reservation fee.

Directions

From Redding, CA, take State Route 299 west for approximately 11 miles. Turn onto Whiskey Creek Road and drive past the Whiskey Creek launch area. At the fork in the road, turn right and follow the paved road approximately 1.6 miles until it ends at the group picnic area. Note: access to picnic sites is boat-in or walk-in only.
