About
Located in Whiskeytown National Recreation Area 19 miles west of Redding, Brandy Creek Primitive Campground offers 2 secluded tent-only campsites along Brandy Creek. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, large bear-resistant storage locker, metal fire pit with swing-arm barbecue grill, lamp pole, and its own vault toilet. No drinking water or electricity is available, and campers should come prepared. The campground provides access to the Brandy Creek Trail, a popular route for hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders that leads to a lovely series of waterfalls. Brandy Creek Beach is located 2 miles south, offering sandy beaches, swimming, and seasonal amenities including showers, a store, and watercraft rentals from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Note that the 2018 Carr Fire extensively burned through this campground and surrounding areas, resulting in no shade at the sites. The area sits where the Klamath Mountains, Cascade and Coast Mountain Ranges, and Sacramento Valley converge, creating diverse wildlife and landscapes. Whiskeytown Lake offers year-round recreation including swimming, kayaking, sailing, fishing, gold panning, and hiking.
