About

Brandy Creek Primitive Campground is a small, secluded tent-only campground in Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, 19 miles west of Redding, California. The two sites sit along Brandy Creek, accessible via a narrow, winding gravel road. Each site accommodates up to 6 people and 2 vehicles, featuring an individual ADA-accessible vault toilet, bear-proof storage locker, picnic table, metal fire pit with swing-arm BBQ grill, and lamp pole. The 2018 Carr Fire burned 97% of the park and extensively impacted this campground, leaving no shade at the sites. Visitors should bring portable shade structures. Black bears are active in the area, requiring strict food storage in the provided bear-proof lockers. The Brandy Creek Trail passes near the campground and leads to a series of waterfalls. Brandy Creek Beach is two miles south, offering swimming, paddleboard and kayak rentals, and seasonal amenities including showers and a camp store from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
