Upper Coffee Pot

Closed — Closed for the season. The campground operates late May through early September on a first-come, first-served basis. During the off-season, the campground remains open weather-dependent with no fee, no toilets, and no water.

About

Upper Coffee Pot Campground is located in Island Park, Idaho within the Caribou-Targhee National Forest at an elevation of 6,300 feet. The campground stretches along a scenic, floatable section of Henry's Fork of the Snake River, surrounded by lodgepole pine forest that provides partial shade to some sites while others sit in open areas near the riverbank. The campground features 14 sites total: 13 single-family sites and one double-family site. Eight sites offer 50-amp electric hookups. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring. Paved access roads and gravel interior loops accommodate RVs up to 66 feet. During the operating season, vault toilets, drinking water, and trash collection are provided, with a campground host on-site. Henry's Fork is renowned for world-class fly fishing for rainbow and brook trout. The river also offers tubing, canoeing, kayaking, and rafting opportunities. Coffee Pot Rapids, a Class III whitewater section, is located downstream and provides exciting challenges for kayakers and rafters. The 2.5-mile Coffee Pot Rapids Trail begins at the campground and meanders along the riverbank. Nearby attractions include Mesa Falls Scenic Byway (14 miles south), Harriman State Park (16 miles south), Henry's Lake State Park (12 miles north), and Yellowstone National Park's west entrance (23 miles north).
