West Boulder Campground is a 10-site campground located at 5,538 feet elevation near the mouth of West Boulder River Canyon on the Yellowstone Ranger District of Custer Gallatin National Forest. The campground sits at the edge of a meadow, steps away from the West Boulder River and adjacent to the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness boundary. The campground provides access to trails leading west into the Absaroka Mountains that connect to an extensive network of wilderness trails in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. Anglers can fish the West Boulder River for Yellowstone cutthroat and rainbow trout. The surrounding landscape features aspen and lodgepole pine forests with views of the snow-speckled peaks of the Absarokas. Wildlife in the area includes moose, mule deer, elk, and grizzly bears. Birders may spot bald eagles, owls, Stellar's jays, western meadowlarks, and mountain bluebirds. The access road is not suitable for vehicles longer than 20 feet, making this campground best suited for tent campers and smaller RVs. Winter visitors should be prepared for snow conditions that may require snowshoes, skis, or snowmobiles to access the area. The campground offers vault toilets and typically has drinking water available from a hand pump, though intermittent water outages occur during the operating season due to facility maintenance.

From Big Timber, travel 16 miles south on Highway 298, then 6.5 miles southwest on County Road 30, then 8 miles southwest on West Boulder Road.
