About
Fourmile Cabin sits at 6,186 feet elevation along the Boulder River near Fourmile Creek, nestled in an open, grassy area surrounded by mixed forest in the Absaroka Range. The Boulder River carves out a canyon between the peaks of The Needles, Carbonate Mountain, and Hawley Mountain. The location provides habitat for bear, moose, antelope, elk, deer, and many bird species. The cabin offers a rustic mountain retreat with electric amenities including a cooking stove, refrigerator, and lights. A wood-burning stove provides heat, with firewood available during winter months only. Guests will find twin beds with mattresses for up to 4 people, a table with chairs, basic cookware and utensils, and tools including an axe, maul, bucket, and shovel. A vault toilet is located outside and a campfire ring is available. Equestrian and hiking trails depart from the cabin into the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. The winter landscape is ideal for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Anglers can fish for Yellowstone cutthroat or rainbow trout in Fourmile Creek or the Boulder River. Hunting is popular in fall.
