About

Falls Creek Campground is a primitive tent-only campground situated along the scenic Boulder River within the Yellowstone Ranger District of the Custer Gallatin National Forest. With just 8 campsites, this small campground offers a quiet, secluded camping experience for those seeking to escape the crowds. The campground sits at an elevation near 5,600 feet in the rugged terrain south of Big Timber, Montana. The campground operates year-round depending on weather conditions, though access becomes limited during fall and winter due to snow accumulation on the road. Potable water is available seasonally from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Campers must pack out all trash as there is no trash service provided. The campground does not accommodate RVs or trailers due to the lack of a turnaround for long vehicles. The surrounding area provides excellent opportunities for day hiking, stream fishing along the Boulder River, and wildlife viewing. The campground serves as a good base for exploring the Big Timber Canyon area and the backcountry of the Absaroka Range.
