About
Wax Campground sits on the shores of Nolin River Lake in the rolling landscape of southern Kentucky, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District. The 5,795-acre lake draws over two million visitors annually with its distinctive blue-green water and reputation as one of Kentucky's top fishing destinations for catfish, bass, crappie, and walleye. The campground features developed sites with 30/50 amp electrical service and water connections at each site. Asphalt driveways lead to gravel site pads bordered by wood, with each site equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. A central dump station serves the campground. A boat ramp provides convenient lake access for campers, and the nearby Wax Marina offers pontoon and john boat rentals, boat slips, and camping supplies. The campground's location near Mammoth Cave National Park makes it ideal for exploring the world's longest cave system. Visitors can enjoy scenic paddling trips along the Nolin River, which flows through the national park before joining the Green River. Several hiking trails wind through the surrounding forest and along the shoreline, offering opportunities to observe local wildflowers and wildlife.
