About
Dog Creek Day Use is a lakefront recreation area on Nolin River Lake, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The facility offers a reservable group shelter that can accommodate up to 36 guests with a paved driveway for up to 9 vehicles. The shelter includes electric (20 amp) and water hookups for event use. Day-use hours run from 6:00 AM check-in to 10:00 PM check-out, with no overnight use permitted. The day-use area provides access to Nolin Lake's distinctive blue-green waters, known as one of Kentucky's top destinations for catfish, bass, crappie, and walleye fishing. Amenities include a boat ramp, courtesy dock, fishing pier, playground, and restroom facilities. The adjacent Dog Creek Campground offers overnight camping as a separate facility. Nolin River Lake is a 5,795-acre reservoir that draws over two million visitors annually. Mammoth Cave National Park is located a short drive away, and several marinas around the lake offer boat rentals, slips, bait, and supplies.
Directions
From Bowling Green: Follow US 31W North for 14 miles, turn left onto KY 101. In 6 miles, KY 101 becomes KY 259 North. Follow for 11 miles, turn right on KY 728. Follow for 8 miles, turn left on Union Light Road. Continue 5 miles, turn left into Dog Creek Day Use Area. Total distance approximately 43 miles.
