About
Dog Creek Campground occupies a scenic stretch of shoreline on Nolin River Lake, a 5,795-acre impoundment managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in southern Kentucky. The campground's 70 sites are arranged across Loops A, B, and C, offering both standard electric sites with 20/30/50 amp service and water hookups, as well as non-electric sites for those seeking a more primitive experience. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 60 feet on select pads, with gravel driveways and back-in access. Nolin Lake is renowned for its distinctive blue-green water and ranks among Kentucky's top fishing destinations for catfish, largemouth bass, crappie, and walleye. Boat ramps serve the campground area, and three marinas around the lake offer pontoon and jon boat rentals, fuel, bait, groceries, and boat slips. The adjacent Dog Creek Day Use area provides a playground, reservable group shelter, fishing pier, and courtesy dock. Mammoth Cave National Park lies just a short drive or ferry ride from the campground, making Dog Creek an excellent base for exploring the world's longest known cave system. Hiking trails wind along the lakeshore and into the surrounding forest, with Shady Creek Trail at nearby Moutardier known for wildflowers. Firewood from outside the area is prohibited due to invasive insects like the Emerald Ash Borer.
