About

Maple Springs Group Campground offers a peaceful, remote camping experience on the north side of Mammoth Cave National Park, located six miles from the visitor center and three miles north of Green River Ferry. This group campground is specifically designed for larger camping parties and equestrian groups, with seven sites that can accommodate up to 24 people each. Sites 1 through 4 are designated equestrian sites featuring horse tie-up areas and can accommodate up to 8 horses per site, while sites 5, 6, and 7 are standard group sites. All sites include electric and water hookups suitable for RVs up to 40 feet and trailers up to 26 feet. Each site features one fire ring and one picnic table, with paved, level parking areas. A small amphitheater and large communal fire pit are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground offers vault toilets and seasonal potable water, with trash collection provided. Note that there is no sewer hookup or dump station at this location. The campground is accessed most quickly via the Green River Ferry, which operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Central Time. The ferry accommodates vehicles up to 16 feet long and 8 tons, meaning most RVs must take the alternate 45-minute route through Brownsville. Maple Springs serves as an ideal base for exploring the park's extensive backcountry trail system, with more than 70 miles of trails open to both horses and hikers. The location also provides easy access to Mammoth Cave tours and other park attractions.
