Walker River State Recreation Area Group Campground is situated at Pitchfork Ranch, the headquarters area of this 12,300-acre state park along the East Walker River near Yerington, Nevada. The campground offers 6 RV sites with water and electric hookups, designed for groups traveling together who want developed camping facilities with full amenities. The campground features flush toilets and showers in the nearby restroom building, with each site equipped with a picnic table, shade ramada, fire ring, and grill. An RV dump station serves all campers in the Pitchfork Ranch area. The park encompasses a century-old working ranch property that was closed to the public for over 100 years before becoming a state park. Visitors have access to 7 miles of the East Walker River for fishing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing. The Pitchfork Ranch area includes the park visitor center, two additional campgrounds (Riverbend and Quail Run), and cabin rentals. Hiking and biking trails wind through the riparian corridor and surrounding high desert landscape.

Directions

From Yerington, Nevada, head north on US-95A. Turn east on Hudson Way, then south on East Walker Road. Follow signs to Pitchfork Ranch entrance. The group campground is located within the Quail Run loop area.
