The Group Campground at Walker River State Recreation Area is situated at the historic Pitchfork Ranch, approximately 12 miles south of Yerington in Lyon County. This reservation-only facility offers 6 RV sites equipped with water and electric hookups, designed to accommodate groups exploring one of Nevada's newest and largest state recreation areas. The park encompasses over 12,000 acres and nearly 30 miles of the East Walker River, donated to the State of Nevada by the Walker Basin Conservancy after being private ranch land for more than a century. The Pitchfork Ranch serves as the park headquarters and provides visitors with access to world-class fishing along the East Walker River, kayaking and floating opportunities, extensive hiking and biking trails, and exceptional wildlife viewing. The group picnic area can accommodate up to 60 people. Nearby amenities include a visitor center with exhibits on the area's colorful ranching history, restrooms, showers, and an RV dump station. The park is open year-round and enforces a 14-day camping limit within any 30-day period. Access requires traveling 4 miles on a dirt road from Highway 208.

Directions

From Yerington, head south on Highway 208 and turn left on East Walker Road. Continue for 4 miles on dirt road to the giant arch entrance of the Pitchfork Ranch. Follow signs to the Visitor Center and group campground.
