About

Fort Churchill State Historic Park Group Use Areas provide a reservation-only facility for groups of up to 60 people within this historic Nevada state park along the Carson River. The site features a covered pavilion equipped with picnic tables, a sink with food preparation countertop, and a large charcoal grill. An amphitheater-style fire ring offers a gathering space for evening programs or campfires. Two vault toilets serve the area, and garbage cans are provided. The group area is primitive with no electricity or potable water available, so campers must bring their own water supply. RVs and trailers are not permitted in the group use area. The park itself preserves the adobe ruins of a Civil War-era military outpost established in 1860 to protect settlers and Pony Express riders. Trails connect the campground to the historic fort ruins and the Carson River. Reservations must be made in advance through Reserve Nevada (reservenevada.com). The group use reservation fee is $25, with additional entrance fees ($5 Nevada residents, $10 non-residents) and camping fees ($15-$20) per vehicle for overnight stays.
