Quail Run Campground is situated within the Walker River State Recreation Area at the historic Pitchfork Ranch, located near Yerington in Lyon County, Nevada. This modern campground, which opened as part of the park's recent development, offers 19 spacious sites equipped with electric and water hookups, making it ideal for RVs and trailers. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and shade ramada for comfort during the warmer months. The campground features clean restroom facilities with showers and convenient access to an RV dump station. Located along the celebrated East Walker River, the area provides world-class fishing opportunities, miles of kayaking and floating, hiking and biking trails, and exceptional wildlife viewing in an idyllic country setting. The park's visitor center offers exhibits on the area's colorful history and is open Tuesday through Sunday. Walker River State Recreation Area encompasses over 12,000 acres of land that was closed to public access for more than 100 years. The area includes nearly 30 miles of the East Walker River and was donated to the State of Nevada to increase public access and conserve natural resources. Visitors can enjoy day use areas near the river, explore various trails, and experience the unspoiled beauty of this outdoor paradise. The campground enforces a 14-day stay limit within a 30-day period.

Directions

From Yerington, head south on Highway 208 and turn left on East Walker Road. Continue for 4 miles to the entrance arch of the Pitchfork Ranch. From Highway 395, take the 208 turnoff through Wellington, then turn right on East Walker Road after exiting Wilson Canyon.
