About

The cabin area at Walker River State Recreation Area is located approximately 1.5 miles past the main entrance at Pitchfork Ranch, dropping down into a private meadow campground with stunning views of the East Walker River corridor. The four cabins (Prairie Falcon, Bald Eagle, Horned Owl, and Red Hawk) each feature one bedroom and one bathroom with walk-in shower, plus an additional bunkroom with two twin bunkbeds and a living room with full-size sleeper sofa, comfortably accommodating up to six occupants. Each cabin includes a covered front deck, eating area with table and chairs, full-size refrigerator, microwave, and cooktop (no conventional oven), along with heating and air conditioning. Guests should bring their own linens and towels, and note that Wi-Fi is not available. The Prairie Falcon cabin is ADA accessible. The Pitchfork Ranch area offers 7 miles of the celebrated East Walker River for exploration, with opportunities for kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing. The century-old ranch property was closed to public access for more than 100 years before being donated to Nevada State Parks. Visitors can access nature trails, river put-ins, and the Visitor Center featuring exhibits on the area's colorful history.
