About
Wakonda State Park's picnic shelters provide covered gathering spaces for groups visiting this northeast Missouri park in Lewis County. The two shelters can each accommodate approximately 50 people and are available for reservation at $30 per day. Both shelters are ADA accessible, making them suitable for visitors of all abilities. These are day-use facilities designed for picnics, family reunions, and group gatherings rather than overnight camping. The shelters are situated within the broader park which features six lakes attracting thousands of migratory waterfowl annually, Missouri's largest natural sand beach, over seven miles of hiking trails, and excellent fishing opportunities for bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish. Reservations can be made through the Missouri State Parks reservation system at icampmo1.usedirect.com or by calling 877-ICampMO (877-422-6766). For local inquiries, contact the park office at 573-655-2280. Those seeking overnight accommodations should consider the park's two campgrounds, Boulder Lake and Wakonda Lake, which offer basic, electric, and full-hookup sites separately from these day-use shelters.
