About
Kiptopeke State Park on Virginia's Eastern Shore provides unique overnight accommodations with four yurts and one bunkhouse, offering alternatives to traditional camping and cabin rentals. The park features one deluxe yurt that sleeps six with a queen bed, trundle pull-out, and twin-over-double bunk. This yurt includes heating, air conditioning, electricity, a refrigerator, and a dining table, making it ideal for year-round comfort. Three standard yurts each sleep three guests with a queen bed and twin trundle but have no electricity, heat, or air conditioning, providing a more authentic camping experience. The bunkhouse is a climate-controlled three-room trailer that sleeps up to 14 people with seven bunk beds, a refrigerator, and electrical outlets in each room. All yurt and bunkhouse guests use the nearby campground bathhouses located approximately 500 feet away. Each yurt features a large wooden deck with rocking chairs, picnic table, charcoal grill, and fire ring with cooking grate. The bunkhouse has a large front deck, picnic tables, water spigot, and fire ring. The park offers extensive recreational opportunities including an unguarded swimming beach on the Chesapeake Bay, a lighted fishing pier open 24 hours, boat launch, over 5 miles of hiking and biking trails, and kayak rentals during season. Kiptopeke is renowned as one of the largest migratory stopovers on the Atlantic Flyway, making it exceptional for birding. The park is located three miles from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel and is open year-round with seasonal variations for different facilities.
