About

Vista Linda Campground is a popular year-round camping destination located in the scenic San Diego Canyon on the Jemez National Recreation Area within Santa Fe National Forest. The campground features 13 sites situated in a vibrant cottonwood bosque basin, surrounded by dramatic red rock cliffs and sandstone mesas. The Jemez River runs parallel to the campground, providing ample fishing access for campers with valid New Mexico fishing licenses, with optimal conditions during the winter months. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, and charcoal pedestal grill. The campground offers potable water, vault toilets, and paved access. Sites can accommodate tents, RVs, and trailers up to 40 feet, with pull-through sites available. A campground host is present on-site. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations, so arriving early is recommended, especially during peak seasons. Vista Linda serves as an excellent basecamp for exploring the Jemez National Recreation Area, with easy access to numerous day-use sites along the NM-4 Corridor and Trail 137. The area offers outstanding opportunities for hiking, scenic driving, wildlife viewing, and stargazing on clear nights. The campground is also convenient to Valles Caldera National Preserve, Bandelier National Monument, and natural hot springs in nearby Jemez Springs. Campers should be prepared for warm days and cool nights in summer, and cold temperatures in winter.
