About
Clear Creek Campground is a 12-site facility in the Santa Fe National Forest's Jemez Mountains, 11 miles east of Cuba on NM Highway 126. At 8,500 feet elevation, the campground provides a cool retreat from New Mexico's summer heat, shaded by mature ponderosa pines adjacent to Clear Creek. The campground features paved RV pads, vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables at each site. Sites accommodate vehicles up to 47 feet depending on the specific site, with back-in configurations. The area is ideal for anglers seeking trout in local streams and San Gregorio Reservoir, as well as hikers looking to explore San Pedro Parks Wilderness. Three main trailheads (San Gregorio, Palomas, and Los Pinos) are within driving distance, offering trails with minimal elevation gain suitable for both beginner and experienced backpackers. During fall, elk bugling can be heard in early mornings and late evenings. Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM, and generators must be off by 10:00 PM. Each site is limited to a maximum of two vehicles including tow vehicles.
Directions
