About

Paliza Group Campground is situated in Lower Paliza Canyon within Santa Fe National Forest, surrounded by towering ponderosa pines and spectacular views of sandstone cliff faces. The campground features two separate group areas: Owl Loop with drive-in sites for up to 100 people, and Red Tail Loop with walk-in sites for up to 40 people. Each site includes picnic tables, grills, and campfire rings. The scenic location near NM Highway 4 provides easy access to the Jemez National Recreation Area, offering opportunities for day hikes, hot springs, and historical landmarks. San Antonio Creek nearby is popular for fishing. The dark greens of conifers contrast beautifully with flowering chamisa in summer and brilliant fall foliage. Clear blue skies and star-filled nights characterize this peaceful setting far from major cities. This is a reduced-impact campground where visitors are encouraged to pack out trash. The campground is reservation-only through Recreation.gov. Visitors should come prepared for warm days and cool nights at this elevation, and must bring their own drinking water as none is available on-site. Charcoal only is permitted in pedestal cooking grills.
