Jemez Falls Campground is located in the heart of the Jemez National Recreation Area at 7,880 feet elevation, surrounded by stunning ponderosa pine forest and open meadows. The campground features 52 campsites on paved roads with easy trailer and RV access up to 40 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The East Fork Jemez Wild and Scenic River flows nearby, providing excellent fishing and nature viewing opportunities. The campground offers vault toilets and conveniently located drinking water spigots throughout, with a campground host on duty during the operating season. Loop 4 is designated as a non-generator area, while loops 1-3 permit generator use from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Campers should come prepared for warm days and cool nights at this elevation. Jemez Falls, the largest waterfall in the Jemez Mountains, is just a half-mile hike from the campground. The East Fork Trail offers longer hiking opportunities directly from the campground. The site is conveniently located along the Jemez Mountain Trail National Scenic Byway, with the Valles Caldera National Preserve and Bandelier National Monument a short drive away. Outdoor photography, fishing, and wildlife viewing are popular activities.
Directions
From Albuquerque, take Interstate 25 north for 12 miles, exit onto NM State Highway 550 northwest for approximately 20 miles, then exit onto NM Highway 4. The campground is approximately 15 miles northeast of Jemez Springs on Highway 4.
