Jemez Falls Campground is situated in the stunning Jemez National Recreation Area within the Santa Fe National Forest, featuring a beautiful ponderosa pine forest and open meadow setting. At 7,880 feet elevation, the campground offers 52 individual campsites with paved access roads throughout, accommodating RVs and trailers up to 40 feet in length. The East Fork Jemez Wild and Scenic River flows near the campground, providing fishing opportunities and scenic beauty. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground is divided into four loops, with Loop 4 designated as a non-generator area to provide a quieter camping experience. Generators are permitted in Loops 1-3 from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The campground operates with a host during the summer season and provides vault toilets and drinking water via spigots located throughout the facility. The location serves as an excellent base for exploring the Jemez Mountains. Jemez Falls, the area's largest waterfall, is just a half-mile hike from the campground. The Valles Caldera National Preserve and Bandelier National Monument are both within a short drive along the scenic Jemez Mountain Trail National Scenic Byway. Visitors should come prepared for warm summer days and cool nights, and should be aware that bears frequent the area requiring proper food storage.

Directions

From Albuquerque, take Interstate 25 north for 12 miles, exit onto NM State Highway 550 northwest for approximately 20 miles, then exit onto NM Highway 4. The campground is approximately 15 miles northeast of Jemez Springs on NM Highway 4. From the Jemez Ranger Station, go 7.5 miles to the junction of State Road 4 and 126 at La Cueva, then continue on State Road 4 approximately six miles east to the campground turnoff on the right. From the turnoff, continue approximately one mile of paved road to the campground.
