About
Viento State Park sits in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, offering a well-shaded retreat that typically has availability when other gorge campgrounds are full. The campground spans both sides of Interstate 84, with A and B loops on the north side and C loop to the south. Sites accommodate RVs ranging from 24 to 52 feet depending on the specific site, though all are back-in only with no pull-through options. The park provides 56 reservable sites with 30-amp electric and water hookups, plus tent-only sites and hiker/biker camping. Facilities include flush toilets and hot showers. There is no dump station or sewer hookups. ADA-accessible sites are available in both the reservation and first-come-first-served areas, featuring taller fire rings and picnic table extensions. Campers should note the park's proximity to an active rail line where trains pass at all hours. The Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail is accessible directly from the park, offering hiking and biking opportunities through the scenic gorge landscape.
