Moss Creek Campground
Open for the 2026 season, operating mid-May through mid-September. Some sites are first-come-first-served while others are reservable through Recreation.gov. Verify water system status before arriving, as the hand pump has been unreliable in recent seasons.
About
Located in the southeast corner of Gifford Pinchot National Forest near the Columbia River Gorge, Moss Creek Campground provides a cool, shaded retreat along the Little White Salmon River. At 1,400 feet elevation, the campground is nestled beneath a thick canopy of Douglas fir, hemlock, cedar, and big leaf maples. The 16 campsites are suitable for tents and smaller RVs up to 32 feet. The Little White Salmon River flowing through the campground offers excellent fishing for rainbow and brook trout. Visitors can wade in the cool waters during summer months. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with firewood available for purchase. Vault toilets are provided, and drinking water is typically available from a hand pump when operational. The campground is managed by a concessionaire and operates seasonally from mid-May through mid-September. A camp host is present during the season. The location makes an excellent base for exploring the diverse landscapes of Mount Adams and the recreational opportunities of the Columbia River Gorge, including nearby windsurfing sites.
