Sunset casting on Veterans Lake
Open

This is a day-use picnic pavilion, not an overnight campground. The pavilion is currently available for reservation at $30 per day through Recreation.gov. A Special Use Permit is required for weddings, additional structures, banners, or live entertainment.

About

Veterans Lake Pavilion provides a scenic venue for outdoor events and celebrations within Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Located in the Platt Historic District approximately 5 minutes from the town of Sulphur, Oklahoma, the pavilion sits on the north shore of Veterans Lake and can accommodate groups of up to 40 people. The facility includes picnic tables and a charcoal grill, though there is no electricity, so guests should bring their own charcoal for cooking. A fishing dock and exercise area are located nearby and may be used by your party but remain open to the public. The paved Veterans Trail loops around the lake and is stroller and rollerblade-friendly. A bison pasture is just up the road, offering wildlife viewing opportunities. The nearby Travertine Nature Center and historic mineral springs (Pavilion Springs, Black Sulphur Springs, and Hillside Springs) are also worth visiting.

Directions

From I-35, take Exit #55 or #51 and drive towards Davis, OK. Go east on Highway 7 towards Sulphur for approximately 8 miles. Turn south (right) on 12th Street in Sulphur. The road ends at a stop sign shortly after entering the park. Turn right at the stop sign and follow signs to Veterans Lake Pavilion.
