About

Located just off the Mountain Loop Highway in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, Verlot Campground offers a quieter alternative to busier campgrounds in the region. The campground's proximity to the South Fork Stillaguamish River, known for its salmon runs including chinook, coho, chum, pink, and sockeye, provides excellent fishing opportunities and serene riverside settings. The more open tree canopy allows additional sunlight compared to neighboring camps, creating a pleasant atmosphere for camping. The surrounding Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest features over 1,500 miles of trails ranging from gentle forest paths to challenging mountain ascents. The nearby Mt. Dickerman Trail climbs steeply for 3 miles through old-growth forest to alpine meadows that burst with wildflowers in July and August, ultimately reaching a 5,723-foot summit with spectacular views. The campground sits across from the historic Verlot Public Service Center, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps between 1933 and 1942. Verlot provides standard campsites suitable for both tents and RVs up to 40 feet, with picnic tables at each site. The campground offers flush toilets and potable water from hand pumps, though there are no electrical hookups. Access to both the Stillaguamish River and Benson Creek is available directly from the campground, making it an excellent choice for anglers and those seeking the tranquility of riverside camping.
