Boardman Group Camp

Boardman Group Camp is located approximately 8 miles east of the Verlot Public Service Center along the Mountain Loop Scenic Byway. This group campground sits on the banks of the South Fork Stillaguamish River, surrounded by old-growth forests of cedar, fir, and hemlock. The campground is long and narrow, positioned between the byway and the river, with walk-in sites closest to the water offering a more remote camping experience despite moderate traffic noise from the road. The campground features eight total sites: two suitable for RVs or trailers, and six walk-in tent-only sites. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The Stillaguamish River supports populations of chinook, coho, chum, pink, and sockeye salmon, as well as steelhead trout, sea-run cutthroat, and bull trout, making it popular with anglers during fishing season. The location provides easy access to wilderness hiking trails and is positioned near several designated wilderness areas. On clear days, Mount Baker's snow-capped peak is visible from the area. The campground serves as a base for exploring the rugged peaks and scenic rivers of Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Wildlife in the area includes black bears, various bird species, and amphibians. Campers must bring their own drinking water as none is available on-site. The campground operates on a reservation-only basis through Recreation.gov.

Directions

From the Verlot Public Service Center, travel east on the Mountain Loop Scenic Byway for 5.9 miles. The campground is on the north side of the road immediately after crossing Boardman Creek. From Granite Falls, the campground is approximately 16 miles east on Highway 7 Scenic Byway.
