Turlo Campground
Closed — Closed for winter. Typically operates from mid-April through late September. The Mountain Loop Highway is closed seasonally.
About
Turlo Campground is nestled in tall firs, cedars, and hemlocks along the South Fork Stillaguamish River, just off the Mountain Loop Highway in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. The campground drops down from the highway to the riverbank, providing visitors with a peaceful setting to fish, explore the river, or simply relax. The South Fork Stillaguamish River is known for its salmon runs, with chinook, coho, chum, pink, and sockeye salmon, as well as steelhead and bull trout using the river for spawning. The campground is located across from the historic Verlot Public Service Center, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Nearby Mt. Dickerman Trail offers a challenging 3-mile climb through forest to alpine meadows at 5,723 feet, with spectacular wildflower displays in July and August. The Mountain Loop Highway provides access to over 1,500 miles of trails in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, ranging from gentle forest walks to demanding mountain ascents.
