About
Fir Group Campground provides a single reservable group site nestled in the pine forests of the Sequoia National Forest's Hume Lake Ranger District. Situated at 6,400 feet elevation within the Giant Sequoia National Monument, the campground offers a secluded setting for gatherings of up to 100 people. The site includes back-in parking for 35 vehicles, vault toilets, potable drinking water, picnic tables, food storage lockers, and a central group fire pit. The surrounding area provides excellent recreation opportunities. Several hiking trails pass nearby, and streams in the area offer trout fishing. Hume Lake, approximately 18 miles away, features swimming beaches, non-motorized boating, and additional hiking. The campground's location along the Generals Highway provides convenient access to both Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. The campground is operated by Rocky Mountain Recreation Company under a Forest Service concessionaire permit. Campfire permits are required for fires, and outside firewood is prohibited to prevent the spread of invasive insects. Fire restrictions may be enforced during hot, dry weather conditions.
Directions
From Fresno, go east on Highway 180 towards Kings Canyon National Park. Take a right on the Generals Highway and travel approximately 10 miles south to the campground entrance on the left.
