About
Riverside Park Day Use Area is located along the Etowah River downstream of Allatoona Dam in Bartow County, Georgia. Operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers, this scenic recreation area provides access to the river and surrounding hardwood forests just 35 miles north of Atlanta. The park features two reservable group shelters: Shelter A accommodates up to 200 people with riverfront location and adjacent horseshoe pits, volleyball court, and open field; Shelter B seats 50 in a wooded creekside setting. The Etowah Disc Golf Course, opened in 2017, has become one of north Georgia's most popular courses with rolling terrain, rock features, and river views. Additional amenities include a boat ramp for river access, flush restrooms, and access to the Vinyard Mountain Hiking Trail. The river offers opportunities for boating, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing, though navigable distance is limited by a subdam three miles downstream. The forested area supports diverse wildlife including deer, fox, and occasional black bears. This is a day use only facility with no overnight camping or swim beach. All vehicles pay a $5 use fee. Nearby Cartersville offers museums and cultural attractions.
