About

Gregory Creek Group Campground occupies a wooded setting along the Upper Sacramento River Arm of Shasta Lake within the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area. The single-loop campground is moderately to thickly forested with a mix of oak and pine trees providing over 80% shade coverage during hot summer months. The understory vegetation includes manzanita, blackberries, poison oak, tree fern, wild grape, and native grasses, offering limited privacy between sites. This group campground features 18 sites with picnic tables, fire rings, tent pads, and paved parking spurs. The facility can accommodate trailers up to 24 feet in length. When Shasta Lake water levels are high, campers enjoy moderately sloped access to the shoreline for swimming and water activities. As lake levels drop seasonally, steeper drop-offs are exposed, particularly on the side nearest Gregory Beach. Shasta Lake provides excellent opportunities for fishing, with anglers targeting trout, catfish, Chinook salmon, crappie, bluegill, white sturgeon, brown bullhead, and bass. The nearby Antlers boat ramp facilitates motorized and non-motorized boating, water skiing, and other watersports. The campground is located adjacent to Gregory Beach dispersed camping area and within a short drive of Lakehead, which offers restaurants and shopping. Lake Shasta Caverns tours are available nearby for those seeking additional recreation.
