Shasta Lake Antlers Campground

Closed — Closed for the season. Typically opens in mid-May and operates through September or October, depending on weather conditions. Reservations available through Recreation.gov during the operating season.

About

Antlers Campground occupies a scenic bluff above the Sacramento arm of Shasta Lake, 25 miles north of Redding in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The 59-site campground includes 43 single sites and 16 double sites set among a mature forest of pine, oak, and manzanita that provides natural shade and screening between campsites. Each site features a paved parking spur, picnic table, bear-proof food locker, and fire ring with grill. While the campground sits above the lake with excellent views, the steep bluff makes direct water access very difficult. The adjacent Antlers public boat ramp provides convenient lake access for boating, water skiing, and fishing. Shasta Lake is renowned for its diverse fishery, including rainbow trout, brown trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, and Chinook salmon. The lake's 365 miles of shoreline are framed by steep mountains covered in manzanita and evergreens, with snow-capped Mount Shasta visible in the distance. The campground's location in the town of Lakehead provides easy access to restaurants, shopping, and nearby Lake Shasta Caverns. Weekend interpretive programs are offered at the amphitheater during the summer season. Campers should be aware of proximity to I-5 and the railroad, which generate regular traffic noise.

Directions

From I-5 northbound, exit at Lakeshore Drive/Antlers Road (exit 702) in Lakehead, approximately 25 miles north of Redding. Turn right at the end of the off-ramp, then right again at the stop sign. Continue on Antlers Road for approximately 0.8 miles. The campground entrance is on the right.
