Upper Lehman Creek Campground

Closed — Closed for the season. Reopens around Memorial Day weekend. Reservations available up to 30 days in advance for peak season stays through September 30.

About

Upper Lehman Creek Campground sits at 7,500 feet elevation on the Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive in Great Basin National Park, three miles from the Lehman Caves Visitor Center. The 23-site campground is nestled in a diverse forest of ponderosa pine, pinyon pine, white fir, juniper, aspen, and fragrant mountain mahogany at the base of a limestone ridge below 12,771-foot Doso Doyabi. Lehman Creek flows through the campground, home to resident trout and providing a mountain soundscape. Sites include paved parking spurs, picnic tables, and fire rings with grills. Two ADA-accessible sites are available. The lower loop accommodates RVs and trailers up to 40 feet, while the upper loop sites 20-24 are restricted to tent camping only. Vault toilets serve the campground, but no potable water is available on-site. The Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive climbs to nearly 10,000 feet, providing access to iconic bristlecone pine groves, Stella and Theresa Lakes, and the Summit Trail to the top of Wheeler Peak. Lehman Caves, requiring advance tour reservations, is a 10-minute drive. The campground serves as a base for exploring remote trails along Baker Creek, Snake Creek, and Strawberry Creek. Dark sky astronomy programs run during summer months at the Lehman Caves Visitor Center.
