About

Lower Lehman Creek Campground occupies the lush riparian corridor along Lehman Creek, a stream that descends over 3,000 vertical feet from the high Snake Range. At 7,300 feet elevation, the campground is naturally landscaped with red-barked water birch, aspen, and white fir, creating excellent bird-watching opportunities and a cooling respite during summer months. The campground offers 20 sites, including six large paved pull-through sites suitable for RVs and trailers up to 40 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets located within easy walking distance. Note that potable water is not available at the campground; campers must bring their own supply. A dump station with potable water and trash disposal is located half a mile inside the park entrance, operating from late May through October. The campground sits just off Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive, providing immediate access to 12 miles of spectacular mountain and valley views leading to near-treeline at 10,000 feet. From there, trails lead to ancient bristlecone pines and the summit of 13,063-foot Wheeler Peak. Lehman Caves is just a 10-minute drive away. The park is renowned for some of the darkest night skies in the Lower 48, with ranger-led astronomy programs during summer months.

Directions
