Lower Lehman Creek Campground

Open — The campground is currently open year-round and accepting reservations up to 4 days in advance. It recently reopened in late fall 2025 following a major renovation and expansion project.

About

Lower Lehman Creek Campground is nestled along the banks of Lehman Creek in Great Basin National Park, where clear mountain water tumbles from the high Snake Range surrounded by water birch, aspen, and white fir. At 7,300 feet elevation, the campground offers naturally shaded sites with the sound of the creek and views of the limestone ridge rising toward 12,771-foot Doso Doyabi. The campground recently underwent a major renovation and expansion project, more than doubling capacity from 9 to 20 sites. New picnic tables, fire rings, and improved facilities accommodate modern camping equipment including RVs up to 40 feet. Six pull-through sites are available, and the campground includes ADA-accessible sites and restrooms. Located just 2.5 miles from the Lehman Caves Visitor Center along the Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive, the campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the park. The scenic drive climbs to nearly 10,000 feet, providing access to ancient bristlecone pines, alpine lakes, and the summit trail to Wheeler Peak. Bird-watching, fishing with a Nevada license, and world-class stargazing under some of the darkest skies in the Lower 48 are all accessible from camp.

Directions

From U.S. Highway 6 & 50, turn south on Nevada State Highway 487 and travel 5 miles to Baker, NV. In Baker, turn west on Highway 488 and travel 5 miles to the park. The campground is on Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive, 2.5 miles from the Lehman Caves Visitor Center.
