About

Big Springs Warming Hut sits in Island Park, Idaho, near the headwaters of Henry's Fork, one of the finest trout fisheries in the nation. The facility is surrounded by lodgepole pine forest within the ancient Island Park Caldera. Wildlife including moose, bald eagles, and Sandhill cranes frequent the area. The warming hut is a fully enclosed structure with concrete flooring that can accommodate up to 200 people. Inside, visitors find picnic tables, a wood-burning stove, electrical outlets, and overhead lighting. Outside amenities include grills, a campfire circle, and a large parking area with 20-amp electric hookups along the perimeter. A vault toilet is located adjacent to the hut. No potable water is available on-site, though it can be obtained at Big Springs Campground 2.5 miles away. The Big Springs National Recreation Water Trail begins nearby, offering a scenic 4.5-mile float to Macks Inn. Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks are within a short drive. Island Park Reservoir and Henry's Lake provide additional fishing, boating, and paddling opportunities.
