About

Henrys Lake State Park occupies 585 acres on the southern shore of Henrys Lake, a 6,000-acre high mountain lake renowned as one of Idaho's premier trout fishing destinations. Located in Fremont County just 15 miles west of Yellowstone National Park, the park is surrounded on three sides by the Continental Divide, offering spectacular mountain scenery and access to the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. Named after Major Andrew Henry, an early 19th-century fur trader and explorer, the park provides excellent opportunities for fishing cutthroat, brook, and cut-bow hybrid trout. The lake sits at high elevation near the headwaters of the Henrys Fork of the Snake River. Park facilities include a boat ramp with ample parking, a fish cleaning station near the docks, and paved nature trails along Howard's Slough leading to the lake outlet. The campground offers a mix of standard and full-hookup sites, many situated directly on the lakeshore. The park serves as an ideal base camp for exploring the Island Park area, the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway, and nearby Yellowstone National Park. Anglers, boaters, and nature enthusiasts are drawn to this high mountain setting for its combination of excellent fishing, scenic beauty, and proximity to some of the West's most iconic natural areas.
