About

Upper Chiquito Campground sits along the east fork of Chiquito Creek in the Bass Lake Ranger District of Sierra National Forest. This small, remote campground offers a quiet retreat for campers comfortable with primitive conditions. Each of the 20 sites includes a picnic table and fire ring, and vault toilets are available on-site. There is no potable water, so visitors must bring their own supply. The campground is accessible via Beasore Road (Forest Road 5S07), approximately 15 miles north from Road 222. The rough access road and limited vehicle length (maximum 20 feet) make this campground best suited for smaller RVs, trailers, and tent campers. The elevation and remote location mean the area experiences seasonal closures during winter months due to snow and road conditions. The surrounding forest provides opportunities for hiking, fishing in Chiquito Creek, and exploring nearby attractions like the Shadow of the Giants trail. Current conditions note downed hazard trees in the area. Garbage service is provided at the campground entrance, though campers are encouraged to pack out what they pack in. Maximum stay is 14 days with up to 6 people per site.

Directions

Take Highway 41 north from Fresno and continue through Oakhurst to Road 222. Turn right on Road 222 and travel approximately 5 miles to Beasore Road. Turn left and continue north on Beasore Road (Forest Road 5S07) for approximately 15 miles, then turn left at the sign to the campground.
