About
Placer Campground sits near Mammoth Pool Reservoir in the Sierra National Forest, accessible via Minarets Road and Mammoth Pool Road from North Fork. Each campsite includes a table, grill, and fire ring. The campground can accommodate RVs up to 30 feet, though larger rigs are not recommended due to road conditions and site layout. Campers should bring their own water as potable water is not available on-site. Vault toilets provide restroom facilities. Boat parking is not available at individual campsites, but boats may be kept at the launch area or at Wagner's Campground, a nearby private facility that also offers gas, phone, food, and store services. The campground operates seasonally from May through September, with a maximum stay of 14 consecutive days. The Mammoth Pool Reservoir is closed to fishing and boating from May 1 through June 15 annually to protect migrating deer. Access to the campground requires traveling 37 miles northeast on Minarets Road from North Fork, followed by a half-mile drive on Mammoth Pool Road.
Directions
From Fresno take Highway 41 north to Road 200. Turn right and travel east to North Fork. Continue through North Fork and travel 37 miles northeast on Minarets Road (Forest Road 81) to Mammoth Pool Road (Forest Road 25), turn right and travel 1/2 mile to the campground turnoff.
